This past week was pretty good. We still spend a lot of our time walking
up and down the same street over and over. You start seeing the same
people over and over too. There is always this drunk Irish guy on his
porch who asks us how we are doing. Then as we keep walking, "dreadlocks
Jordan" will usually pass us by on his bike and want to argue about the
Bible. After we are done with that, Born-again John will spot us from
across the road, share his conversion, and preach to us about how we
need to be seeking the gift of tongues so we can speak with the fiery
tongue of angels in strange languages. In there, we will talk to some
Chinese university students, knock on some student rent doors, meet some
other crazy people, and yeah. That's a normal day contacting on
Wyandotte Street! Sometimes you never know what you are gonna get!
Windsor is pretty good!
We are seeing a little
more success now that Elder Carroll and I are starting to get to know
the area and the people more. We helped a ton of people move this past
week... so we are pretty much professional at moving people's couches
and fridges with minimal noticeable damage. :)
This
week I realized more just how much the Bible AND Book of Mormon help
make up the doctrine we teach. We taught an investigator named Bing the
Plan of Salvation. His mind was blown as we used scriptures from both
books to help him understand the different steps in God's plan for him.
"I didn't know this stuff was in the Bible too!" he said. My favorite
part was when we told him that before we were born we all lived with
Heavenly Father in the premortal existence. "No way! Really?! I never
hear that before! That is so cool!" In Sunday school the teacher talked
about how from time to time we get a sliver of a glimpse of God's
knowledge and everything just clicks for a moment. It's awesome when
investigators have those kinds of epiphanies in the gospel! So cool!
