The past week we have sort of been struggling in finding people to
teach. The only somewhat solid person we are teaching is Lance. And
Kevin, our recent convert is doing super well! He got a calling as a YSA
rep, and he led his first YSA activity yesterday!
One
cool thing happened this week. We were contacting at a street corner,
and some guy came up to us, yelling at us, starting to make a scene. He
was telling us to stop shoving religion down everyone's throats and
telling us we had no right do spread the gospel and stuff like that.
This went on for a couple minutes (Elder Carroll, our baby, looked
stunned and helpless as the guy got in his face, haha) until some
stranger came up to the guy, and started defending us and telling him to
leave us alone. The angry guy asked him, "Oh are you one of them!!?"
Then he simply said, "No, I am Muslim, but you shouldn't be treating
those guys like that." I have had a couple other experiences like that.
It is cool to see people of different faiths stand alongside you and
defend you like that. Living in a city that is the melting pot of the
entire world, I am learning to respect other people's differences,
cultures, and faiths.
Elder Carroll is doing
super well. He is very motivated and hard working. He will be in
leadership position soon on his mission I'm predicting.
Again don't have a ton of time today.
