This week had some ups and downs, but it ended off really exciting!!
So for the downs, it's finals week.
Which means every single Chinese person is spending all their time studying,
and don't have time to meet or do anything church related. These couple of weeks
seem to be the slowest weeks for Chinese work here. I sometimes feel like I
dislike finals more as a missionary than as a student, haha. A lot of people
with appointments and commitments to church bombed... so yeah. :/
But we did experience a miracle a
few days ago.
There is an investigator named
Neuman who started investigating the church years ago since the time he first
visited a school in Utah. He is I think in his 40s, and has a 5 year old son who
is living with him in Canada (his wife stayed in China). He has come to church
consistently here in Windsor for about half a year. He really likes the church
values, and likes to talk with missionaries, but never committed to baptism for
a few reasons. He wanted to learn more about the church, didn't want to give up
tea, and basically had traditional Chinese atheistic ideas rooted in his mind
that prevented him from making that step. Well guess what?? After lots of
fasting and praying for Neuman, this week he finally set a baptismal date for
December 27th!!! It was truly amazing! He gave up all of his tea and tea-making
supplies and is ready to make this change in his life! It is such a humbling
experience, because I feel like I had nothing to do with it. It was all the
Lord, working with Neuman in His own timing.
So excited for Christmas!! As this
time of the year approaches, it is amazing to think of the greatest Christmas
gift of all time, our Savior Jesus Christ. Let us all remember His atoning
sacrifice and appreciate the gift!! :D
